Description
Cirque du Freaks is an artistic project that reimagines the forgotten world of decaying circuses — a space where festivity has turned into ruin and beauty hides beneath dust and sawdust. As production designer, art director, and visual designer, I developed the entire conceptual and aesthetic universe of the piece, from visual tone and scenography to costume and prop design.
The project explores the intersection between kitsch, gothic, and nostalgic aesthetics, constructing a visual and emotional atmosphere filled with texture, melancholy, and theatrical decay. Each element — from lighting and makeup to set construction — was carefully designed to evoke the ghostly memory of a once-splendid carnival now trapped in an endless encore. Through Cirque du Freaks, I sought to create more than an installation — a sensorial archive of a lost spectacle, where every object and every shadow whispers that the show never truly ended.
